Italian Alpini Medium Mortar team

Description

It has been said that mortars accounted for more casualties in World War II than any other single weapon type. Like so many nations, the Italian Army made good use of mortars, such as the Mortaio da 81/14 Modello. Trained and effective Italian mortar crews certainly added to those numbers in every theatre where they operated.

You can field up to five mortar teams in a single Heavy Weapons Platoon. A medium mortar is a fixed team, indirect fire weapon, lobbing shells high over the battlefield. Inaccurate at first, they range in over the course of a game, provided their targets dont move. When they hit, they pack a punch, ignoring cover and causing a 2 HE blast.

Pack contains one metal Medium Mortar, with three Italian Alpini crew and a plastic base.
