Description
Little Virgie Cary (Shirley Temple) “polly wolly doodles” all the day on the family plantation in the Antebellum South, until the outbreak of war sends her father (John Boles) off to fight. After pa is arrested by Union soldiers and sentenced to death, singing Southern belle Virgie and slave Uncle Billy (Bill Robinson) go all the way to President Lincoln to save his life.
